C section steel purlins, also known as Cee purlins, are shaped like the letter C and are used to support walls and floors. They are used to shape the shell of a building, creating a skeleton on which to construct the walls of the structure. C section purlins are designed to form the walls and floor joists of a building shell structure, making them ideal for supporting beams needed for mezzanine flooring. They are also often used for structural support in walls and as floor joists. A purlin is a longitudinal, horizontal, structural member in a roof. Purlins make up the secondary support system in the framing along with their horizontal counter parts, girts. Girts and purlins run in between the primary framing much like cross beams in a wooden structure.

C section steel purlins appear similar to structural beams, but the difference is that the latter is lighter and has thinner walls. Despite this, purlins do the job of keeping the roof deck, tiles, and sheets in place. Although purlins are often found in barebones buildings that have the traditional V-shaped roof, they may also be found in other structures, with some slight modifications.
