Products Description
Galvanized wire is a type of steel wire that has been coated with a layer of zinc to protect its core from rust and corrosion. This process significantly extends the wire's service life, making it one of the most widely used and cost-effective types of corrosion-resistant wire available.

Primary Production Processes
Electro-Galvanizing (Electroplating)
Process: The steel wire is immersed in an electrolyte solution and acts as the cathode. Zinc anodes are also present. When an electric current is applied, zinc ions are dissolved from the anodes and deposited onto the surface of the steel wire.
Characteristics:
Thin, uniform coating: Produces a smooth, bright, and shiny surface.
Lower zinc coating weight: Less zinc is used, making it generally less expensive.
Good corrosion resistance: Suitable for general purpose or indoor use where exposure to harsh elements is limited.
Excellent flexibility: The thin coating allows the wire to remain very soft and pliable, ideal for twisting and weaving.
b) Hot-Dip Galvanizing
Process: Clean, prepared steel wire is passed through a bath of molten zinc at around 450°C (840°F). This creates a metallurgical bond between the zinc and the steel, forming a series of zinc-iron alloy layers, topped with a outer layer of pure zinc.
Characteristics:
Thick, durable coating: The coating is much heavier and offers superior protection.
Higher zinc coating weight: More zinc is used, increasing the cost but also the longevity.
Excellent corrosion resistance: Ideal for outdoor, humid, marine, and harsh industrial environments.
Rough texture: The surface is rougher and less shiny, often showing a characteristic crystalline pattern known as "spangle."
Reduced flexibility: The thicker coating makes the wire stiffer and less flexible.

Common Specifications
Galvanized wire is typically specified by two main parameters:
Wire Diameter (Gauge): Measured in millimeters (mm) or by standard wire gauge (SWG, BWG). Common sizes range from very fine (e.g., 0.2mm) to thick (e.g., 6.0mm+).
Zinc Coating Mass: Measured in grams per square meter (g/m²), indicating the thickness of the zinc layer. Standards like "Regular Coating" or "Heavy Coating" are common.
